The show moves the setting to the present era
The novel “The Day of the Jackal” is set in 1963 and involves an assassination attempt on the then President of France, Charles de Gaulle. Graham Norton is referenced in the likes: Denzel Washington/Paul Mescal/Saoirse Ronan/Eddie Redmayne/Blossoms (2024).
The cast delivers some really great performances
The storytelling is solid, with twists that keep you hooked, and the cinematography captures the eerie atmosphere perfectly. That said, I must point out that Ms.
Lynch’s performance felt rather underwhelming
Her performance came off as very one-dimensional, which unfortunately stood out in a cast filled with strong, nuanced performances. It’s not about race — I can think of several brilliant black actresses who could have brought more depth and complexity to the role.
It’s definitely not perfect, but it deserves attention
It’s just that her performance didn’t live up to the quality of the show overall, which was disappointing. Still, the show is worth watching for its story and the standout performances from other cast members.
